As you approach Waterfoot, you will see the footings of a limestone bridge and the remains of an old pier; these are just just some of the vestiges of the dismantled mine railway, which was used to transport iron ore from the mines on the local hillside to the coast for shipping. The nearby Glenariff Forest Park has three spectacular waterfalls and offers numerous opportunities for scenic walks.
