Built in 1177 by the Norman knight John de Courcy, Carrickfergus Castle has dominated the landscape of the town and coastline for hundreds of years, by both day and night. As viewed from the sea, the castle i still remains one of the best'-preserved examples of the Norman invasion of Ireland.
